The school was organized by local parents and teachers to give Russian kids ages 4 to 12 an opportunity to learn reading and writing in their native language as well as art and some other topics. It provides additional education to regular Canadian school.

Starting September 2010, the classes will take place in the Greek Orthodox Church, 38 Purcell Cove Rd, Halifax, lower parking entrance, every Tuesday, from 5:30pm to 7:45pm.

There are three groups of students: Grade 1 (who learn how to read and write in Russian, approx. 4 to 6 years old), Grade 2 (who already read and write, approx. 6 to 8 years old), and Grade 3 (9 to 12 years old).

The cost is $60 per month for one child or $100 per month for two children from the same family. We also collect $20 per year for art sdupplies.

We would like to ask parents the following:

• Please arrive by 5pm or shortly after that, so your children can get ready and take their seats before the first lesson begins.
• Please provide indoor shoes during the winter time.
• It’s good to provide some snack for your child for a recess.

In the future, we would also like to have some other subjects in the school, such as:

• Russian Literature
• Russian History
• Geography
• Music
• Theatre Group
• Parent+Tot Play Group (2 to 4 years old)
