Russian Society of the Maritimes is a registered volunteer, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization. Registered on Oct. 1st, 2001, registration #: 3065838.

Goals of RSM:

• Assistance to Russian immigrant families in the process of their integration into the economic, social, and cultural life in Canada.
• Promotion of growth and popularization of the Russian Culture.
• Strengthening family ties and encouragement of connections between younger and older generations in Russian-speaking families.
• Establishment of solid connections for the purpose of professional, educational, and cultural exchange between Canada and Russia, as well as other countries of the former Soviet Union.

Activities of the Society:

• Conducting a social survey in order to understand the needs and interests of Russian-speaking families.
• Organization of informational and educational meetings, lectures, and seminars.
• Establishment of a Russian Language and Culture school for children and teenagers.
• Creation of a theatrical group for children.
• Participation of the society in cultural events in the province.
• Exploration of possible cooperative work with international (Canada — Russia) programs in the fields of education, human rights, and ecology.
